
Tax Preparers: Volunteers are needed to prepare federal and state tax returns electronically in your community for low to moderate income families. We are looking for folks like you that have some tax knowledge and good computer skills. We are asking you to commit to about 24 hours of volunteer time. Tax law training of 12 hours and two 6 hour Saturdays, 8:00 am - 2:00 pm preparing taxes. Volunteer tax preparation work takes place January and February.
Intake Volunteers: If you don't want to prepare taxes, we still need people to conduct the initial interview of the families. This involves asking the questions on an intake sheet and filling in the answers. If you like people and want to help in your community, this is for you. We are asking you to commit to about 24 hours of volunteer time. Tax law training of 12 hours and two 6 hour Saturdays, 8:00 am - 2:00 pm doing the intake interviews. Volunteer work takes place in January and February.
Child Care: We need volunteers who enjoy children to assist with activities such as video games or video movies for the children while their parents get their tax returns prepared. This would be at least two Saturdays. No training needed. Just enjoy helping your community and working with children.
Greeters: Volunteers are needed to greet the taxpayers and using a check sheet, determine if the taxpayer has all the necessary information to have their tax return completed at the free tax site. We are asking you to commit to about 16 hours of volunteer time. Training of 4 hours and two 6 hour Saturdays, 8:00 am - 2:00 pm greeting taxpayers. Volunteer work takes place in January and February.
Technical Support: Volunteers with an excellent knowledge of computers, networking and software are needed to assist at the tax sites. We are asking for a commitment of 16 hours.
GECC Sub-Committees: We need volunteers to assist on sub-committees of the GECC. Opportunities are available on the Technology committee, Marketing committee, Grants and Funding committee, Educational Outreach committee and Volunteer committee. Number of volunteer hours will vary.
